Gillside, is sited in an idyllic location for the perfect Camping and Caravaning holiday. A Lakeland farm that has been worked by the Lightfoot family for over 40 years. A site where you can easily view some of the work of a traditional Lakeland farm.
Clinging to the side of one of the most scenic of lakeland dales, the reaches of Ullswater, are viewed spread below and along the valley. The nearby track that leads fell walkers to that magical and mighty summit Helvellyn, passes by the entrance to the farm.
Campsite
The village of Glenridding, which originally housed the miners from the disused Greenside mine, has a good selection of general food and gift stores, a National Park information centre, post office, cafes and restaurants, together with a variety of hotel and picturesque public bars -just 5 minutes walk away, beside the shores of Ullswater.
Facilities provided for your comfort include a constant supply of hot and cold water in the toilet block with the added benefit of relieving tired and aching muscles with a piping hot shower after your day in the outdoors. Deep sinks are available for the cleaning of pots and pans and a laundry with washer and drier are there for your use. The farm will be pleased to supply you with fresh milk and eggs just ask at the farmhouse. Breakfast Van open on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 7.30am to 11.00am.
:: Welcome to Shielbridge Caravan Park & Campsite, we are situated on the A87 at the foot of the famous Five Sisters mountain range in Kintail.
Our park is the perfect base for hill walkers wanting to bag some Munro's or for touring the West Highlands for picturesque views, which are plentiful.
Our Amenities block has hot water 24/7, toilets, a disabled toilet and showers, also an area for dish and hand washing.
Close to the site we have a licenced grocer where you can buy most essentials to help make your stay with us more pleasurable. This is also where you book-in.
The park is open to caravans, motor homes, tents and well behaved pets from March - October.
Licenced for 75 tents and 16 large level hard pitches which have an electric hook up, with room for awnings and car.
