Bristol Volksfest Show and Shine 2012 will once again be administered by Bath Air Cooled V-Dub Club - entry remains the same at £5 per vehicle. There is no advance booking for the show and shine, but please ensure you are on site before 10am on Sunday 12th June.
Below is a list of the classes : trophies and prizes will be awarded to all class winners. This is a peer judging show and shine so, if you win, you'll have the satisfaction knowing you've been judged the best by your fellow V-Dub owners!

Friday night we're really pleased to have a fantastic Pet Shop Boys tribute band and, for a bit of fun, we're going to adopt the Pet Shop Boys "Go West" as our anthem. All you need to do is to rewrite the words of Go West for VanWest . Email this into us by the end of December and we'll get in touch with the best lyricist with a pair of weekend passes plus you'll have the thrill of hearing your words sung by the band (and everyone else) on Friday night.

:: Welcome to Bamburgh Classic Car Show. This is a one day event, with classic cars on display and trade stands with a variety of items for sale. Fun fair and live music.
The event runs from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on the cricket field, in the stunning presence of one of the UK\'s best kept castles - Bamburgh Castle.
Take a trip to Bamburgh, visit the castle and beach, all within a few metres from the show.
You won\'t even need to bring a picnic as there will be a selection of caterers on site.

:: The VW LT Sven Hedin Camper Van
The VW LT Sven Hedin Camper Van was introduced around 1972 and was the first motorhome having a shower, a warm water system and a special high top based on the new VW LT.
The Sven Hedin is a westfalia model based upon the VW LT28 chassis and the best engine is the 2.4 6 cylinder turbo diesel. The later model to the sven hedin is the VW built VW Westfalia Florida.
The VW Florida is a better allround camper as it has rear door access and a bright clean interior. It is built by VW themselves and is there for very well built.
This alone to have fitted to todays modern campers would cost you around £800. Nice touch.
I have owned the VW Florida version and can state that it was a very nice (but small) camper. These are now getting on in time and any purchased should be well and truly looked at. For a Sven Hedin expect to pay between £1000 and £5000. Only a totally mint and low mileage model will fetch £5000. You will pay a lot more money for a VW LT Westfalia Camper as they are much nicer inside, are better built, and are more in demand.

Not the best of Interiors, rust, now getting on a bit.
The VW LT Sven Hedin is a great van if you are looking for something that gives a bit more room than your normal VW Type 2 Camper. Like all old vw campers, you have to look around to find a good one. They tend to rust quite easily and this can become expensive if you need to repair them. Because of the age, rust can be a major problem. It is well worth looking for a good condition model and paying a higher price.
Look around for your Camper Insurance as weel as you can save substantially by doing some online research. My VW Westfalia Florida was around £200 fully comp insured. This was obtained due to searching the Insurance sites like go compare and elephant as well as Adrian Flux to obtain the best quote.
